Hey, so all you drummers out there. What is your favourite warm up (or otherwise) exercise?
Personally, I love Stone Killers (4 left, 4 right, 4 both, 8 left 8 right 8 both, etc) and an exercise called Uno working on stacatto legatto strokes. Excellent warm up material, there.

we do this warmup in drumline where you play a measure of quarter notes, a measure of 8th notes, a measure of triplets, and a measure of 16th notes (all in 4/4 time). first we play it with the right hand, then the left, and then alternating. it's really good because it makes us listen to the rest of the people in the line.

one of my personal favorites is called 16th stick control... its constant 16th notes with different sticking it goes like this. (rlrlrlrlrlrlrlrl)=m mrrrlrrrlrrrlrrrlmlllrlllrlllrlllrmrlrrlrllrlrrlrllmrrllrrllrrllrrllmrlrlxlllrlrlxlllrlrrllrlrrllrlrlrlrrlrllrrllrrllr
x=shot... its really fun and when we hit the shot we do a cool twirl with the right hand

I am in the pit, but my favorite warm-up is Blue Knight Skips. (unfortuantely with all the skipping it wouldn't make much sense to type out.....)
