Actually it's kinda both ways. A close- hole horn is nice in that you don't have to have huge fingertips to play it. However nothing seals to grenadilla quite like human skin. Close hole is preferred on larger horns just for uniformity. The curve neck is still made. Leblanc L300 series (the current is L330s I think) The new pics of it just dont emphasize the curve neck enough. I have an alto nearly identical to that in a black case. They are the best, and at $700 and a repad that is a STEAL. I just have to hope it stays around until I get a j-o-b to pay for it...
