My band has 27 people, and had 15 guard. That includes the pit (2) and drums (3) and DMs (2). Perrr-thetic.

I may have already posted this, but oh well.
This past year we had:
2 DMs 8 (?) Pit 6 (?) Flutes 9 Clarinets 7 (?) Alto Saxes 1 Tenor Sax 1 Bari Sax 8 Trumpets 3 Mellos 7 Trombones 1 Baritone 5 Tubas 11 (?) Battery 17 (?) Guard
Yeah, as you can tell, I'm not exactly sure of the numbers, but that's roughly the instrumentation we had. We're losing 20 seniors though, so we need lots of freshmen next year.

It's kinda sad how small ya'll's bands are! Is it just bcoz your schools are small or is it a lack of interest from the student body?

^Lack of interest. Well, more like the middle school directors don't teach very well and make students want to quit band by the time they get into high school...
At least, that's how it is for us anyways.

I go to a 400 kid high school....and that's 3-A in colorado. 1/8 of the school in band is pretty good.

Yep 3-A band here too,we have an amazing midd school director who gose to the elementary schools and runs band there.WE even preform for the elementary schools(try performing on a small unlined field) so we usually get freshmen with five years of expierience(our school contibutes 34 out of a 60 peice district band). On the bad side it makes our band seem like an excusive club and you cant start band in HS without it being overly difficult.

This is our concert band. I will put how many senior we have from that instrument in ()
1 Band director (0)
5 flutes (1) 5 clarinets (2) 1 bass clarinet (0) 1 alto sax (0) 3 trumpets (2) 3 horns (2) 2 trombones (0) 1 euphonium (0) 3 Tubas (1) 5 percussion (1)
9 out of 29 are seniors, and a few of those left probably won't be in marching band. Our trumpet section is obliterated. Next year we will have ONE (maybe two) trumpet players that have had marching experience, and he will have played trumpet for one semester (he marched saxophone this year and played drums the year before). Not saying that he can't do it, because he is probably the fastest learner, and one of the most motivated members of the band. He just has to work very hard. And the other horn just needs to realize her talent and play out.

^ we have that problem too.Our only euphonium is TERRIFIED of playing. Also after this year we will be down to one trombone.I dont like our directors tactics for trying to get us to switch instruments. He told our 15 member flute section that there were only 12 drill spots written ,but they had over written low brass so 3 of us had to switch if we wanted to march ever.We had the drill writer with us for all of band camp-it wasnt to hard to add extra spots. In the end three people quit and the one freshman that was just learning to play switched back to her original baritone
