Well, I don't know what a midi stick is, but EWI is Electronic Wind Instrument, and you can make it sound like ANYTHING, supposedly. It just came in, and our BD won't even let my friend who has to play it hold it yet lol.

yup. that's a midi stick. you can set the fingerings to flute, sax, clarinet, or, on some models, oboe, and the timbre to any standard MIDI setting, including drums, ocarina, and astro lead. Weird- but fun. My JH BD used it to teach beginners on instruments other than sax, and a recently graduated senior had one that he used for heavy death metal solos in jazz band. (don't ask.)

The First Show for BUGWB was finally announced (I have yet to get my music but others have): Olympic Tribute
There is also a rumor that we will be doing a Dark Knight show or at least playing music from it, which would be awesome!

Well my old hs is doing Superstar (music from Jesus Christ Superstar) which I am insanely jealous about. As for us, we're doing The Planets (Holst). I have no idea how the music sounds, cuz I'm in guard

My alma mater's show this year is A Gershwin Portrait arranged by John Higgans. I got to help them this past week at their band camp. Things are really starting to make progress. They have a really young band this year, with 13 out of 35 wind and percussion players in the band, and many people are playing a different instrument from last year in order to replace people that graduated. For example, we lost ALL of our trumpet players from last year. This is what our trumpet line looks like this year:
Tuba Alto Sax Mellophone Rookie Trumpet Color Guard Rookie Tenor Sax Rookie Clarinet
However, they seem to be picking it up really quickly, despite the fact that two of them have never played trumpet until the first day of band camp. I think they will have a great season if they keep working the way they have this week.

Ha, just got done with band camp, and I do like Night Watch a lot. It's a fun one. It's interesting for me to play though since I'm doing it on baritone instead of sousa (since I'm too whimpy to march the sousa).

Summer band is about half over for us and the opener already makes me cry. Sixteenth notes while marching at 160 and a giant block rotation for the woodwinds.

^ Good luck.
The first 8 mesures of our opener make me alugh my head off. There's a group of about eight of us who have to "hide" behind three people. I know one is a sousaphone and two are bari's, but c'mon. They're sticks of guys playing the instruments. We're not hidden.
