okay, ever since i was five i always planned on playing flute in my high school's amazing marching band. so i started playing when i was 10, practiced constantly, and kept going towards my goal. but recently, my friends convinced me to try out for winterguard at our school and i made it. i thought i would just do this for one season, see what it was like, and then continue with flute. but now slowly, marching band tryouts for instruments are coming (in february) and so are the ones for color guard (in april). i never thought it would be a hard decision, but now i can't decide what to do. i really really really love flute, but sometimes i feel like i love guard even more, and i feel like in sufficient enough at both that i could make either one for mb season. i have absolutely no idea what to do! help please!

i know in my high school we had girls who played their instruments in marching band but were in the winterguard. if you are able to do that, that's what i would do.

There are plenty of girls in winterguard who marched instruments in marching band at my school. Best of both worlds, I guess. Plus, on cold October nights, band uniforms are 5 million times as warm as colorguard uniforms

well that's the thing, i talked to the woman who runs the entire color guard (winter and mb) and she said that if i want to do winterguard after this year, i have to do field. so i don't know... i think i'll just do flute for one year (i'm only in eighth grade) and then if i don't like it, i'll do winterguard again and try out for color guard on field.
