Band frustrates me so much. Not the actual music, but the people in it. I envy the dedicated orchestra. My band is an accumulation of all the students who were too lazy to play violin or any other competitive stringed instrument. We're a joke. We have talented people, but none of them care. Many are just "idiots" when it comes to school. A few seniors got rejected from the school with the 90% acceptance rate this year. We have a few who are flying by the seat of their pants when it comes to life after graduation. They just have no drive. Many are satisfied with "alright". They don't care about doing better, but then they complain when all the other schools kick our butts at competitions. How do you get the band to actually care about band and life and maybe have some drive? What keeps your band going? I'm might break into insanity soon. We play easy songs. If only I lived on the east coast.

lol. East Coast would be nice. I have the exact same problem. I ask myself those same questions everyday. It is funny....not really funny but you know what I mean...I will go to honor band. I love honor band so much. Talented musicians who care about music and want to get somewhere in thier lives. The first day back to high school is a wake up call. You will be so used to not only the sound at honor band put just the way the kids act and how they carry themselves is so much different from high school. It is kind of sad that my band doesnt care. My band director was like, "Welcome back to reality." There are kids in the band who are talented and care about music more than anything, people who are talented but dont care so it doesnt really matter if they are talented or not, then people who are neither. I guess that is the way things have to be....but then again they dont. Yea, it would be nice to have both but I just want people who care. I am looking for the same answers.
