I've got a problem, and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else.
See, my stuff keeps getting hidden/stolen in band. Freshman year, someone decided to hide my clarinet in one of the snare cases and I couldn't find it for a month, last year my mallets got taken repeatedly, and now it's progressed to things like my wallet, cell phone, ipod, mp3 player, you name it.
Basically, this has been happening for quite some time, and I don't know how to make it stop, and I have no idea who's doing it.
Help?

Uh...start keeping it with you all the time, in a purse or something. For instrument stuff, ask if you can lock it in the director's office.

I'd keep it in your school locker, or let your band director know so he can keep an eye out for it.

Normally, I would hide it in the drum closet, since NO ONE dares go in that place-and my band director's more of the type to 'admonish the entire band' then actually do something about it.
I've been keeping my stuff with me lately, and so far, it seems to be working. And I do believe I've finally figured out who's been behind it-thank god he's graduating this year, so it will stop for good.

Does your band room have a camera in it? In my school there are cameras everywhere. My BD requested them to put one in the band room when they built the school. It has really helped because one time a girl's purse got stolen, and so my BD looked at the video footage and figured out who it was. It ended up being a non-band kid who had seen her purse laying there and decided to take it.

Yeah, if your stuff is being stolen, keeping it with you should help. Not many skilled pickpockets in your average high school setting.

tell your band director.
The sad part is, this even happens in college. Textbooks are a commodity, and you can sell them for BIG BUCKs, so people try to steal them alot. It's really sad, and immature. Definetly tell your director the situation, perhaps he can speak to the entire band about it?
