Not to like, put you down or anything (because that's not my intention), but even though we're going through a recession, things aren't bad for us as a whole. There are people out there who are getting tortured right now because of what they believe in, and people who are being forced to work against their will in harsh conditions (many of these people right here in the US!). I mean, if the worst we're complaining about is having to do an older marching band show and not do as many competitions, or having to cut back on food spending and eating out...then it's probably a much-needed wake-up call. Try to see the good in this - at least you HAVE marching band. Heck, at least you can go to school period. Try to make the best of what you have, see the good in things, and have fun.

I don't think recycling a fifteen year old show is that bad...

It's really not that bad...We re-use things in shows all the time. They're our signature things. We had to change our trip to Toronto because of the economy and we're going to Virginia Beach instead. One parent immediately suggested at the band booster meeting that we don't go on a spring trip to teach us a lesson about the economy... He's a bit of a jerk anyways.
We've never really competed. We've almost always have had 1 competition a year in the spring and many are not going this year because someone in their family has gotten laid off.
Fundraising is your best friend and if your band is strong with a strong band booster program you shouldn't have any problem. No offense, but you're really being over dramatic about this.
