My junior year we had a part in our show where I had to march forward and then immediately march backwards a kind of long ways, so I had to push off hard with my foot when I went to march backwards. Anyways, it was the first football game of the year, and the field was kinda slick, and I get to this move and my feet start slipping and I almost catch myself and then I fell. First time ever... Oh well. At least it was just a football game.

At one game, I had a halt very near a large circle of people that went around and then halted... this kid halted right on top of me. You can see me pushing him off me on the video! Ouch...

This was before a football game performance, but our practice field is like right next to the football field, so there were a lot of people around. We were running song 3 again, and I was still running to my set spot when the band started playing so I tried to go the other way. However because of physics and slippery grass i fell flat on my butt.

Last year: -piccolo froze during a game during my solo -piccolo fell apart on the field during our only spring competition right before my solo and didn't play -turned the wrong way during exhibition at Rose Bowl -fell down the bleachers
This year: -forgetting to turn and did at the last second -slid on puddle of water running around during pep band on spirit day in the hall at school. My friends describe it as epic superman penguin slide. it broke my picc -yelling turn at the wrong place once early in the season -starting to play last year's show by accident after laughing at the drum major for accidentally yelling we were starting with it -stating loudly how you could see the stadium lights reflect off our principal's shiny bald head ( he shines it, we swear!) and then having him turn and look right at me. Yay for everyone being dressed the same?

This wasn't my fault but I had a collision with the guard at NAU Band Day. If you've ever marched there, you know how squishy the ground is. Anyways, the guard was late to a set and I had to run into them but got my shako knocked off by a flag. I fell over and quickly got back up but it was extremely embarrasing.

Freshman year: -Mistook "homecoming set" for "opening set" before our homecoming football game. That was so embarrassing... luckily they were near each other....
Junior year: -slipped in the mud, 3 steps off the 50 in the front row, in the set before the whole band turned and moved the same direction. I would have caused a pile-up, but I somehow managed to get up in time. - had to be carried off the field after an incredibly painful run of the show. - in practice one day, I was on the ground with someone stretching my cramping hamstrings, and I closed my eyes so I didn't see who asked "OMG is Laura ok?"and I not-so-nicely responded: "Does it look like everything's fine?". It was the assistant bd... He looked so hurt... omg I hate myself for that...
Senior year: - for the parent run-through the day before our first competition, I couldn't get my solo at the right tempo. I was chewed out in front of the entire band and parents and my then-bf. The baritone player who dueted with me a few sets later had to help me stop crying so I could play.

It wasn't me, but one trumpet freshman decided his new opening set was on the 40. The rest of the trumpets were on the 10. And for the first 8 sets or so, flutes are the only ones that move. Hilarity ensued.
He eventually got back to his spot by set 12, but by then, he looked like a tiny dot moving through arcs.

First pep band for me wasn't so great...
I almost dropped my saxophone when I had to play. I ran into a baritone player and he swore at me. Someone yelled at me for "playing too loudly" (It's a pep band. Aren't you going to be loud???)
