In my section in Symphonic Band there are 4 trumpets. Last semester I sat next to Guy 1 and things were great. We got along just fine. There is this one guy that I really despise (solely because he feeds off of my negativity. He's been a jerk to me since I moved at the beginning of sophomore year). Lets call him Guy 2. He moved down from Wind Ensemble at the semester break. The guy who knocked him out got along just fine and we were an incredibly balanced section who got along just great. Theres one more trumpet in our section, Guy 3. Guy 3 follows Guy 2 around (I have no idea why) and has now been acting like a jerk to me too. Guys 2 and 3 treat Guy 1 pretty much the same way except a bit nicer. Guys 2 and 3 being total jerks to me all period wouldn't be a problem except Guy 1 now sits on the other side of the section so it goes Me Guy 3 Guy 2 Guy 1 No one sits on the other side of me, so I find myself wanting to quit band and feeling like its no fun. I know band isn't supposed to be that way. Any advice on how to fix this problem?

Uh, ask to be moved? Or challenge chairs?
Or else get someone to scare them straight, or talk them down.

The main problem is that band used to be my favorite period and now I dread before that class and during that class wish I could just go to math. Another problem is that Guy 3 used to be civilized to me but now he treats me like my intelligence is lower than that of a dogs. It pushes me to a breaking point pretty much every day. I've tried talking down to them but they don't listen and have dumb comebacks and won't listen to what I have to say next. I will probably talk to my band director about it, but it seems really petty.

Now you're setting a double standard-it's too much for you to deal with, but not enough for your director. One of you is going to have to do something about it, and if you can't do it, it's going to have to be him. Your director, I know, is a smart guy, and doesn't have to worry about your trumpets hating him, so I would go to him.
Sorry if I creep you out...I know more than I should about your band...

I have friends other than trumpets, the only problem is that I sit on the end of the row. There is a guy in the row behind me. He isn't an out-right jerk but we just don't flow well. Due to the odd shape of our bandroom, no one sits in front of me for like another 5-10 feet and yelling to the clarinets and saxophones probably wouldn't go over to well. Its not really that creepy, Oscar. I mean, you practically know more people in my band than I do lol... I'll probably end up making myself study sheets and bringing those in and studying those instead of talking to someone while I am not being focused on. Although, I may try that challenge thing. The main problem with that is that it would place me right inbetewen them for at least a week.

Don't quit just because you don't like who you sit next to or you feel it's "awkward". I learned that lesson a while ago. I HATED who I sat next to in band my freshman year, but ... I have some of the best memories from that year because it allowed me to focus on the music so much better. I mean, band afterall is really to create music and not to chat with friends.

At my school we challenge chairs...or we were supposed to. I would just talk to the person about it and if that does not work go to band director.

My school does callenging chairs really weird. I think that you stay on your part until the next batch of songs come around. At least, thats what I think. Anyways, I've decided that it doesn't matter and like brassdancer said, I can focus on my music.
