I was on the favorite note thread, and I thought of this. I know my favorite key is D minor. I love it so much. How about you guys?

F Harmonic Minor, hands down. (Horn player, surprise). That and there's some keys like Fb... they basically don't exist unless I feel like being a pain to whoever I'm writing for. (If you're wondering, you form Fb with a double flat on B and everything else flat).

Eb or Db major is pretty amazing. D minor, also. Has anyone ever played Passacaglia? It's just variation upon variation of the same melody in D minor for like, 15 minutes, but it's amazing.

My favorite key would have to be either A or D minor, cause they were the first keys that I mastered on the piano. I can improvise almost anything in those keys on any instrument.

Hm. I'd say F major, D major, or A major.
It's odd. I love the Ab scale, but hate the key signature.

I like G on clarinet. Concert F on Bb and Concert Bb on alto. It is the key I learned first, and it is the key I play as warm-up for the clarinet I play on. I play Bb and BBb contra for school bands where we tune/warm up on F, and honor bands, where we tune/warm up on Bb. G is also my favorite note

Im thinking the clarinet's natural scale, F... (concert Eb) If I am looking for a random good time, I will pull out something in Ab or Db and then transpose it... yum... I absoulutely despise the concert keys of G, D and E. All other concert keys... including Fb... are at least ok. Why I am fine with Gb major and hate F# major is beyond me. Especially considering I play the scale as F# major... :?

On flute, I love to play in D-flat and major in solos/band music, but in orchestra I love E major. I love playing flats, and there's something about playing D-sharp that just makes me happy for some strange reason. On horn, my favorite keys are very... limited, haha. I like concert D-flat (horn A-flat... yeah, concert D-flat again) major and concert F (horn C) minor. There's no fancy reason why I like them... they're just fun and not too difficult.

E minor.
Or any minor keys for that matter. They are so much better than Major keys in every single way. =P
