Niiiiiice. It's things like that that make me extremely happy our band doesn't play for the graduation procession. I just got done sitting through 3 hours of names being called off at a college graduation ceremony. It was a blast... =/
edit: I couldn't help but laugh when I got home from the ceremony to find this as the new comic.

Yeah, we play at graduation... This year will be my school's second graduating class... We have roughly 400 people per class, so it's a long time before we can stop playing Pomp and Circumstance lol.

We don't have a huge graduating class, but I'm glad we don't play at the ceremonly nevertheless. It would be a horribly boring thing to do.

I hate playing graduation, but I'd have to go anyway this year because my brother is graduating. Boo.

I have straight quarter notes throughout most of the Processional. And excluding the intro, 1.5 beats of rest the whole song. Ugh.
Though, this year's class isn't as big, about 400.

Does it make me weird that I loved playing at graduation the last three years of high school? The classes were only 300 people tho, which was long enough. I feel bad for the band this year. My class is going to have 500 people graduating this year. It's crazy huge.

This year's class is slightly bigger than last year's--300 some, maybe? I don't run out of air so much as have my lips die on me. Of course, we're playing Processional, a march, another march, then the senior song, and finally the Recessional. Luckily I'll have a weekend in there to rest up for band camp .

This year's Senior class was around 130 people. And some of you have 400? This year's Sophomore class is the largest class our school's ever had, and they have 154, I think.

We were practicing our graduation music (we usually leave after we play Pomp and Circumstance for the seniors walking in.) yesterday, and I already started feeling sore. I immediately thought, "...Dang, this is gonna be one heck of a graduation..."

I don't run out of air so much as have my lips die on me. . im the same way, escpecially in the summer when i dont play for more than 5 days. it sucks:( the middle school doesnt have a graduation, but the 5th graders get one and this year was the first year the advanced band got to play for them. it was awesome but saddening cause it was the last time we got to play with each other this year:( anyways, there was 150 or so of them, but the arrangement we played had clarinets only with the melody for the 1st part of pomp and circumstance so BD let us break for the 2nd half!!

Next year, the last time I ever have to play Fanfare and Processional, is the single largest graduating class of my school.
Oxygen tanks plz.

We played at graduation over 3 weeks ago, but we were placed so far back field (it was held in our football stadium) that no one in the stands could hear us, but we were right next to the grads and the stage so at least they heard us. Besides the usual Fanfare & Pomp. we played Star Wars, Tales of the Emerald, Second Storm, Noble Men, and some other cool songs...
But seriously, would your school do something as far-out as playing STAR WARS at a high school graduation?
