We're not as stereotypically cliquey as some other schools, but you do notice a lot of different groups if you look closely:
1. The ones I'm in.
The Senior Percussionists (half the battery, plus one honorary junior), which has established relationships with the Core Pit Kids (myself and 3 others), and the rest of the sophomore percussionists. Core Pit Kids are also connected with the "Special Section" (2 flutes, 3 clarinets, 1 tuba, 1 sax, 1 trumpet)
The Honors/AP seniors (4 alto saxes, 1 bari sax, 1 bass, 1 snare, 2 clarinets, 1 trombone, both drum majors, and 1 trumpet, with 1 tenor sax, 1 clarinet, 1 trombone, and 1 flute who sometimes overlap with us)
The general group of intelligent slackers (don't worry, my issue isn't band related).
2. Other groups:
Jocks (which can be divided up to seniors and juniors), hyperactive girl flutes (no surprise there), various generally freshmen and sophomore groups (which include three Jennifers who's last names all begin with H), the guard, the laid-back juniors, sophomore nerds, etc.
It seems like a lot, but we get along relatively well, since there's a lot of crossover, and even groups that don't necessarily like each other can live and let live (unless it interferes with the show).

Our school really doesn't do the cliques/stereotyping thing. We have somewhere near 50 people in our band with staff and our DM, and we all pretty much get along. We have a few people that kinda don't get along with other people, but they still treat them like family like they would anyone else. Just like me, I don't enjoy hanging around with (3rd Bone), but I do because she is in the band just like every one else. I don't see why I would have to be mean to her and tell her to go away or anything like that.
I can say that we kind of have a clique within all of our bands of the "not-in-marching-band" people, but they usually don't conflict with the rest of us. Only if they're cheerleaders. That's when it starts to get annoying.
But we do have a few inter-family divisions, like the couples with the breakup-ees [[mine and 3rd Bone's problem]] that can make some situations set socially with the band hard, because we act like couples and they don't enjoy it. I think these are the same problems that occur in any setting, correct?

actually, there are no clicks in the high or middle bands..as a band manager i just go around and talk to everyone in the high school, middle school is a little more clickish but then not really, just generally these ppl talk to these ppl, but all in all everyone just talks to everyone.

My school is only 9-10 and then Senior high 11-12 so you don't get the whole 'upperclassmen issues'. We do have the little cliques: Guard- Annoying preppy people that are mostly friends with other guardies Trumpets-Really weird random section and not stuck up at all...just strange people Mellos-Think they are the best or very athleticy Trombones-aka tromboners. They are pervs and slackers but really fun to mess with Tubas-they are really cool, love this section Saxes-PERVS but will be really good people Clarinets-They are pretty nice, but are the most serious section so dont mess with them. Flutes-Mostly preppy and think they are the best Of course there are exceptions to all of these...these are just the majority

Our cliques aren't really hardcore. We all still talk to each other and such, but we have a ton of different instruments with other people, so I'm probably going to get this wrong... Saxophones (seriously, they all stick with each) and sometimes a trombone player Mellophones and a trombone player. IB Sophomores/Freshman (I join this group every once in awhile.) Clarinets (My group that I hang out with the most) Ex-IB seniors (they hang around sometimes, but they don't really go anywhere else.) Drumline/Pit (One of the only really concentrated cliques that actually stay with each other) Trumpets (self-explainatory) Ummm... Wow. In reality, our cliques aren't nearly as bad as a lot of the other peoples. Makes me feel good about our band. But apparently cliques were really bad a few years ago...

Well, our band has about 50 so we dont really have cliques. Everyone gets along and we all stick up for each other. There is always drama but what doesnt. If you want to break it down it would be:
The ones who care too much------I am in this group......I cant help myself!!! lol The ones who just care and dont talk The ones who could care less and are forced to do it by their parents
those are the only "cliques". everyone who actually care want the people who dont care out because they are dragging us down but we are all friends. If we fight, we will crash and burn becasue we dont have the sound for someone to be having an off day. Unfortunately, thats the way it is. But I am excited because this up-coming season we are going to have the biggest band in a long time. 10 clarinets!!! Now those of you who are in a huge band are probably thinking I am crazy but for someone like me to have 10 clarinets is pretty great!!!

My band isn't really big enough to have cliques. The closest we have is the guard, who basically sticks together save for the captain, who is a good friend of mine and another girl...and our percussion kind of sticks together as well, but they let others in.

Our band has it's cliques, i just couldn't name them. i stay as much out of the drama as possible most of the time, plus, our bd really tries to keep the whole clique thing down.
