We don't really have "prop" props but the guard has some nifty streamer-hoop things and the majorettes have FIRE! If anyone's seen Ms Congeniality, the batons the winner had in the end, that's what they have... except we actually have to light them by hand. Still pretty nifty

Where we live, fire batons aren't too uncommon. We usually see at least one band a season that has them. This year, the case that extinguishes them popped open after they closed it and they were still on fire. It looked like a pretty close call.

i think there should be a limit on how many props bands can have... im not saying props are bad but alot of them are just too much.... i mean some bands have HUGE props that just take away from the actual MARCHING part of MARCHING BAND... that my personal opinon ne way (and im not just saying this cus my band doesnt have props)

The Woodlands (from The Woodlands, Texas) used a "forest" this year for their show. It was pretty cool and effective.
We rarely use props though.

i hate props. to me it takes away from the actual show. its about marching band, not how much money your school has to throw around on things you'll never use again.

I totally agree! Last year there was this one school that had this huge clock thing that counted seconds... which wasn't even in time to the music! It bugged me so much! And when I did it, there was this other school that had almost the same show as us (same songs, I mean) but they had all these props and we had none. So I laughed when their big inflatable thingies fell over in the wind.
that's not a prop! It's not even on the feild! It has nothing to do with band!

flight soooooooo the gaurd is getting to spin some toy airplanes in the air or kites or something....no one knows for sure yet, and then we bring out an airplane on the field and "construct" the plane (using the percussion part in 12 seconds to the moon and that sax solo as where we build the plane)
some other stuff most liekly, but that's all that we know for now

This year, our show is titled "Snapshots" and our guard has small white picture frames that they dance with and stuff. During the percussion feature, about 20 guard people take band members' instruments and give them big orange frames. We do some pretty cool stuff with the frames. did they do a winterguard with the same theme?? I saw a guard at a competition doing that, and it looked really cool. i loved it. anyways, for '06- '07 we had backdrops that had symbols on them (batman, a skull & crossbones, and king kong) and smoke machines behind them that played at the beginning of batman. i'm kinda worried this year because we are playing the song from Fiddler that has the bottle dance in it. i really don't want to A. wear HUGE bottles on my head and B. dance on my knees. lol But I have heard we are using wings again for Phantom. frikin schweet man!
