Anyone's directors told you about the 2008 show yet? Our opener should be done by the end of this month. The show is called [glow=red,2,300]Nightmare![/glow]with Carmina Burano (spelling?), Nightmare before Christmas, and Night on Bald Mountain as the closer. We are a rather foward thinking band... as you can see in my signature 2009 is already in the works... I actually came up with the idea. Anyone else got show news?

We were told our "theme" two weeks ago... Lion King! I was a little peeved when I found out, the past four years we were told we couln't do Disney, Disney doesn't do marching band, yada yada yada and now the year I leave they do one of the most well-known? *grumbles* Oh well, at least I got to play House two years in a row. They don't know the song order exactly except that Circle of :ife is our opener and Can You Feel the Love Tonight is also in it (I think)

We're doing a swing show next year, which is kinda monotonous from the New Orleans jazz show we did this year. The pieces are "Rock This Town" as the opener, then "Big Noise from Winnetka"(gotta love Robert W. Smith), and our closer is "Don't Get Around Much Amymore" I've gotta say, the music is pretty sweet, but the pace for our opener is insane! I feel bad for the incoming freshman! Some of the seniors are kinda peeved, because next year's show is actually their show from freshman year. I don't really care what they say, I think it rocks!

All I know is that we're doing some sort of Indian / Native American themed show... Hopefully it'll be good, cuz next year is my senior year...

We're playing Carmeana Burana in concert band and I really like the bass[clarinet] part! Our show next year is something about Samaris? I dont remenber the whole name.

For drum major tryouts we have to direct the closer. Our director wants to have all the music out to us before the end of the year (inc. fish included) so we can "practice" it over the summer. (trombones in chorus: Yeah, RIGHT!!!) Our band actually marched Carmeana Burana a long time ago- the color guard carried trees! This time they get uniforms that have these folds of fabric on the sides that they can pick up to look like batwings. :-) It's going to be fun... and SCARY!

60's TV shows -Meet the Flintstones -Bonanza -Star Trek -Hawaii Five-O -I Dream of Jeanie
Our show this year rocked, but it was two songs, so next year we will be considerably more respected for our five-song show.

Even though I'm graduating this year,my director and I have put together a very potent show for this coming year.
Beauty Pageant Winner Take it All American Woman More of Winner Take it All Lets Dance Let Their Be Peace Winner Take it All.
Through the whole show it has an underlaying theme of even though its a beauty pageant and its all in good fun, their will be only one winner, which is brought out by repeatedly playing portions of Winner Take it All. Its a rather deep show, believe it or not.I'm excited to see it on the field. The only thing that I don't like about it is that right before Let Their Be Peace,we're using narration.I despise narration. But I think it will fit because it'll lead into the question part of the beauty pageant.I think its going to say something like "If you could have one wish, what would it be?" or something to that and then a band member will say, naturally,"World Peace." which will be the start of Let Their be Peace.

I really like that idea! We don't use narration per say but we have an intro before almost every song ie for last year, "Hear the woodwinds wail and the brass scream as the band performs house of the rising sun!" or my favorite *sarcasm* two years ago, "Watch the bouncing ball as EAHS Marching Band performs Pinball Wizard!" But I like the ides of the question and answer to lead into a song, it doesn't seem too talky.

No. See... the thing is... I came up with the idea for that show (09)... I suggested it to the director, and he said it was a GREAT idea and said he'd love to do it, so I'm taking that as an official yes until further notice.

Our directors are the kind who usually don't decide until after graduation (even on state years) and are contemplating during the last days of school. We have no say so, and we wish we did because all we've played is hardcore classical marching shows while our rival high school (there's only two high schools in my city) gets fun shows like a jazz show last year. We've played (since I was here) The Labrynth (Key Poulan) and the Stylings of Joseph Curiale. My friends and I were talking about it and we would love it if we did a Michael Jackson themed show. (They would never in a million years do that!!)

Yah we dont get told till the end of school also.I just hope it isnt a custom show.we had one this year it was supossed to be a blen of wizard of oz,the wiz,and wicked.Every movment was a mash up of all three and it didnt make any sence. The music was too easy for us and the drill was impossible. We had a french horn jazz running while playing, the move was supossed to end in an 30 person diagonal in 16 counts so she had to move 32 up and 12 over and end in a hold.I did the same thing while moving through flag and drumline.(got hit with a horazontal toss across the face)
