I have to add a new instrument: French horn. You know, I used to like the instrument, but sitting behind them has really changed my opinion. XD As it would. It's not meant to be heard from behind.

Well, trust me, they don't sound any better from the front... other then the fact that you can't hear them as loud. XD

ha, yah, french horn i can live with, but the oboe makes my ears bleed. Maybe its just the girl who plays it in my band sucks.. but i sit right behind her and it makes me want to shoot myself everytime i hear her... im not to fond of the cymbols either... they are right behind me and when we play the SSB as we always do for every concert and they crash... welllll, it messes up my playing and makes me jump about 20 feet in the air...

I don't really "not like" any instrument...not particularly fond of oboes or piccolos though. And - I'm a little hypocrite here - I don't like clarinets that much on high notes and/or when they're played badly (which is most of the time, it seems).

My least favorite instruments are the flute and oboe. I don't resent the players, unless they by themselves are just bad people, but... 1. The flute is the only wind instrument on Earth I can't get a sound out of- and I've even succeeded on the digeridoo! 2. OBOES ARE SMALL AND BLACK. THIS HUGE RED THING I'M HOLDING IS NOT AN OBOE. I'M NOT EVEN IN THE SAME CLEF, YOU RETARDS. Thanks, I needed to get that out of my system. Hah. I love when people mistake the bassoon for an oboe. It's kind of like...and you can't see the OBVIOUS differneces? I play bassoon too, but I like oboe best. My favorite is that the guys in my journalism class can't tell the difference between a flute and an oboe. ONE IS SILVER AND HELD OUT TO THE SIDE AND ONE IS BLACK AND HELD DOWN!!! Oboe seems to get picked on a lot because...well, it takes about 2 years of practicing for the sound you get out of it to become halfway decent... Oh, piccchick...a class full of 6th grade oboists?! I am so sorry for your ears! I couldn't stand myself for the first year I played...and I was in 7th...but a class full of them? It's hard enough to get 4 honor band oboes in tune...I hope they don't play together....

I pretty much don't like any instrument NOT played with good tone or in tune. If it's played well, I'm fine with it.

I'm an oboe/english horn major and i guess that means that i can tolerate annoying buzzing chirping and sounds of the like quite a lot. I can't stand the sound of low brass, or synthetic sounds ...synthesizer. Whining / out of tune pianos piss me off royally i must admit. Marching percussion makes me cringe... marching/pep band upsets me also.. *puke*

If someone jumps in my band, the percussionists will never let you hear the end of it.

contra bass clarinet (my apologies to those out there!) but I have yet to hear a somewhat pleasant sounding contra...
it's a tie between that...and the violin on Finale

I love all instruments...when played together. If I hear certain instruments playing alone, I kind of cringe. Obviously, this thread is meant to not hurt other people's feelings, because I'm sure we're all above that...but I don't particularly like the flute. It's so tin-ny sounding. Other than that...I think I'm good.

I'm sorry for the people who play this, but I don't really like the sound of the oboe. I'm sure there are some people out there that are like, "You don't like the oboe? Well, I don't like the trumpet!" but whatever, I don't care if you hate my instrument. Just don't hate me. ;D

haha...im glad that no ones said bari sax yet....warms my heart....lol I don't like the sound of any saxophomes actually. Mix between brass and woodwind...just no. Sounds pretty bad, especially when they replace the horns with saxophomes. But I'm biased

indeed...
Jazz sax beats jazz horn any day... if you feel like arguing, I prefer you face the wall, who will pay more attention...
*All in jest my good friend*
