Ahhaha. Not embarassing for me, but for one of my DMs, Carlson. He's seriously tall, very awkward, and basically uncoordinated. Don't ask me how he got to be DM.... Anyways, for our indoor concert, we brought the drum major stands into the auditorium. One was right in the center in front, which happens to also be where the Drumline stands, so there's not a lot of room. It was the last performance, and we were having fun. Carlson hurries from the stage to the front middle podium for the second song, leaps up the stairs and totally bites it! Down on the stand with a crash, drumline can't help it, and we all laugh like loons. Another DM was trying so hard to keep her composure, but, "That was so. funny."

I have one of my band director when he was in college. Horn players especially may find this funny.
He was playing in a concert one night, and he was playing along, but his horn didn't sound right. The notes were bad out of tune, it wasn't blending with the band, etc. He finally found the problem about 32 measures from the end of the piece. In some pieces of music they have Eb horn parts written on the back of the horn part...

well. hand checks are pretty embarrassing. x] also, your section pouring water on each other can get dirty... and awkward if you're a girl wearing a white shirt.

Oh I have too many to remember but one that sticks out is when we were fixing to copying millersville u's band and play the first few bars of Friday Night on Fox and then yell "first down" on the first down. Well I don't get regular organized sports so I quietly asked my BD what a down was... he then went on to explain it to the rest of the band. Then there was last week. I had bought this really nifty Snapple Lip Balm but my brother broke it. I was trying to get it out (it won't unscrew you have to dump it) and it flew to the other side of the flute section. My BD looked at my like I was nuts, I then coolly played it off as my brother's fault. Then at our last Music-A-thon I kept falling asleep during rehearsal (you try playing at 3am its not pretty!) and every time the perc feature would play or there was a sfz. I screeched. Apparently I sounded like a dinosaur.

One of our DM's actually had one of the football players run into her stand and nearly knock her over!

At my first middle school concert, me and another trumpet player ended up sitting in the middle of the trombone section because she forgot her music and had to get out of the line. We tried to get the trumpets to move over, but they wouldn't because it would be too "embarrassing" for them. We weren't the brightest sixth graders.

okay so i have two.
the first is in my sophomore year in band we were on the field and we weren't doing anything at the moment, and when we don't do anything i twirl my flute. Well as I did this the foot joint flew off about 20 yards.... and I had to go run and get it. As soon as I got over there to pick it up the dm called us to attention. So i had to run back over to where i was when we were supposed to be at attention.
and another one.
During concert band last tuesday I didn't have to play because i was making poster for the music in the parks we host. i was sitting in the back near the drums and our bd was talking to us so we weren't talking when i get one of my famous hiccups. I only get one and it is always loud. so i hiccup and everyone in the band turns around and looks at me. the bd too, so me being who i am turn bright, bright red and start saying i'm sorry it just happens. well naturally everyone in the band starts to laugh, which makes me turn even redder.

I have one from this weekend. It's slightly band-ish because it happened at All State.
Soo... I was playing hearts with a Governor's School friend I hadn't seen in forever. I was in his hotel room trying to learn how to play (I failed) and it got late. I fell asleep in his bed. When I woke up at 4:15 there I was sleeping in a bed with 3 boys. Two of whom I was barely acquainted with (I knew their names lol). But I was tired so I went back to back to sleep. My bd had told us that he really didn't care what we did at All State, and people knew I was in my friend's room, but I don't think I'm going to be telling my bd about this lol.

Okey, so we were at district honor band. Our band room has carpet, so we have no problem just emptying spit onto the floor, but this one had a tile floor, so I wasn't sure what to do. I decided to empty sort of under my stand so that no one would accidentally step in it and freak out. Well, about a minute or so after I emptied a river, the 2nd chair f horn next to me, his music fell off his stand. Into my released condensation. His paper was all wet. It was terrible.
Oh, and I'll tell one that happened to my BD. He frequently told this story to trombone players in 6th grade. Mwahaha. He said it was when he was playing during a concert in like 6th or 7th grade. They were playing on a stage that had steps to get onto the stage on the front center part of it. And while he was playing (he plays trombone) he pushed his slide into 7th position too hard and his slide came right out, skidded underneath all the instrument chairs, down the stairs, and into the front row. That story = tears of laughter from all of us.

Back in Marching Season... - One of our Drum Majors fell backwards off her podium but was thankfully unhurt - One of our Freshmen girls fell during a standstill part in our show.. lol - I ran into a prop... after being sick for a week and discovered then how bad my bd is at measuring - At the last home game, I was marching backwards at one of our more complicated parts of the show and my knee gave out and I fell, nearly getting hit in the head by my Bari Sax... scary. When I got up, the Visiting band was laughing because I fell, but I just Jazz-ran painfully to my spot and kept going. When I stuck my mouthpiece in my mouth I got a mouth-full of dirt. By the time we got off-field I was crying cuz my knee hurt really bad. I was the first one back up in the stands and both of my section leaders kept bugging me to see if I was ok. Then, I was walking back to the band hall and I tripped again. And my band director flipped out when he found out that I walked all the way back to the band hall when my knee was hurting. He made of the drum majors follow me around. It was so friggin hard to get my bibbers off with my knee hurting, but I did it and I didn't even have to clean up OR put my uniform up. Later on, after we had dismissed and I was waiting on my sister to get the car, a guy in my section who's usually really rude to me asked if I was ok. Turns out, when some other band kids were laughing that I fell, he stood up for me.

^That's how us rude band guys work. We're a pain in the butt until it matters, and then we're supportive.
