The Manufacturing Bill of Materials, commonly known as the manufacturing bom or the MBOM, is generally a list of materials or components that are used to manufacture the product. Every minute material that has been used somewhere when the final product is ready to be placed in the market, has to be listed in the Manufacturing Bill of Materials. MBOM is usually intended for communication purposes. The different departments or sections of the concerned firm, which are involved in different stages of the manufacturing process, have to be informed of all the materials that have been used, in order to perform their tasks accordingly without any contradictions. Moreover, these are also given to the retailers or the distributors of the product. Manufacturing BOM is essential for giving a proper and more vivid idea about the manufactured product. The components and materials required for the design of the Printed Circuit Board is also included in the Manufacturing Bill of Materials of an electronic product. The materials that are used for packaging purposes too, are mentioned in the list of MBOM. The container, the enclosures, the adhesive tape used, liquid adhesives used, are all mentioned in the list. The assemblies, raw materials, and other enclosures also have to be included. Often, the firmware is also mentioned. In case of some products, especially the electronic and electrical ones, guides and booklets on the method of operating the product, terms of using the products, etc. are enclosed with the product. The Manufacturing BOM of such products lists out these items also.
