Okay so my friend's bass clair got broken in two. If it's not fixable we want to have a funeral for it. so how would I go about doing that? And should we burry it or try to burn the wood parts so he can keep the ashes? I know it sounds really morbid.....but......it needs to be remembered.

I have only been to a "best reed EVER funeral." We wore black all day.
As for burning it, do it only with proper supervison? I had this terrible scene of burning homes. Then the 10 PM news: "A house fire started today as a result of the burning of an instrument. Find more after the break."

if you are, or know, someone artistic, you could try to have a cool shrine-sculpture made of the metal hardware from the instrument or something... something about burning instruments just doesn't sound good to me, but you never know.

Yeah, I wouldn't burn it if I were you. Too dangerous.
But I like trumellotonium's shrine idea. xD

I saw a picture of a clarinet lamp once. It was kind of amazing. You should do something along those lines.

hahaha a lamp?! that's awesome, yeah i would do something like that, don't burn it. i remember when my flute broke we had a funeral for it during sectionals (i have it up in my closet now) and when i got a new one we christened it during sectionals. it was entertaining.
