Lots of corps suggest that you come to an audition camp the year before you intend to actually try out, anyway, just so you can get a feel for how they do things, what you need to work on, etc, so I'd suggest going to the audition camps for Jersey Surf and Cadets, if possible. If nothing else, it's basically like a little weekend clinic with world-class instructors.

Blue Scales. If you're in that area and would be interested in marching in a senior corps. you're also around the Hawthorne Caballeros, Bushwackers, and Buccaneers. If you want to get an experience in a corps, but don't have the time or money to go straight to world class, try it out. alot of people I have talked to used senior corps as a stepping stone. They march a year or two of senior, to get the feel of how the corps universe feels, then march junior corps. The fees and schedule are also low. About $500 for the season and practice 3 days a week. If it's something you're interested in it's worth looking at.

^ Thanks! I don't really see how I could march senior corps while still in high school (high school marching band is a huge commitment and my parents would never let me do both simultaneously, with band camps from both organizations overlapping in August), but I see now that as long as I live in close proximity to a corps, I can march for the rest of my life!....like 84bdsop is apparently doing.

I did corps my senior year of HS. the nice thing about senior corps is you only practice on the weekends. so you still have some time for School. The instructors were really cool during the winter about having to miss rehersal for a band event. Idk if it's like that everywhere, but that's how it was at Reading.
