Hello!
Well, I haven't been on here for a loooooooooo...ooong while. That's because, as I'm sure many of you know, student teaching is quite the challenge.
At least, that's how it started. There was student teaching, then there was graduating, then there was finding a job. As some of you may know, finding a music teaching job is quite a challenge as well.
Suffice it to say that I graduated, summa cum laude, from URI in May. And on July 21, I was offered a job, and boy did I take it!
So now I'm the orchestra director (traitor, I know, but it's never been a secret that I'm a cellist) for Roton Middle School and Brien McMahon High School, both in Norwalk, CT.
I almost can't believe it.
Well, tonight is my first night in my new apartment. Living alone, moving out of the parents' house...now there's another challenge...and I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep. So, I figured I'd update all you folks on my current status.
Well, the current status is that I'm moved in, but I need to do all the stuff that comes with it, like getting new license plates, a new library card, etc. Oh yeah, and planning a year of middle school and high school orchestra!
Well, that's it for now. I'm sure I'll fill in more details later, but I need to get back to bed. I promise to try to be more regular from now on.

DUDE, you have been missed! It sounds like a lot of really awesome stuff has happened to you in the meantime, though! Graduating summa cum laude is quite an accomplishment in itself, congrats (and on the other stuff, of course)!! Good to hear from you again!

Weird, I was just wondering where you had been recently, Scott, because my mom works with a pharmacy intern who is studying at URI. It reminded me of you! I'm very glad to hear you are doing well. Congratulation on those wonderful jobs!

Congrats on the job, and the graduation. How did you decide you wanted to teach middle school? I'm a junior in high school, and I'm thinking I really want to teach high school. I shadowed at a middle school and, boy, did they have pitch issues... I don't know if I could handle it.

I know you posted this a while ago, but congratulations, Scott. I'm almost there! Only one more semester and then I'll have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance! Which is why I haven't been on here in a while...that and without being in a marching band, there's not a whole lot to talk about on these forums sad to say
