So today in strength block a trumpet player looks at me while we are doing push-ups and say he would be able to do them if he hadn't had to hold his trumpet up for 3 hours (5 mins in a circle 20 push-ups if you fidget). Now I play euphonium which weighs 10 pounds compared to his 2 or so. How would you respond to this? I just said do your best you'll make it. That took a lot of self control.

Well, I know it's not a big difference but some trumpets can weight around 3.5lbs (I think mine is 4? I have a lot of crap on it, though). Still, a lot less than yours. But we do need to hold them up. I know I get really tired after parades and games and such, but I've never played another instrument so I don't know what anything else feels like. If I were you though, I'd be like "please, mine is more than twice the size of yours." and be a jerk, but you were good and took the high road

offer to trade with him, he'll probably shut up.
I didn't respect the baritones before the way I did after I held one for a full water break (voluntarily-- I did this at a middle school camp I was teaching, and decided I had nothing to lose by holding a baritone at set for 5 minutes). Even though I play mello, which is nearly the weight of the bari, it still burns worse and more quickly.
