What is your favorite dci show from this year? I liked scv. Sorry if this has already been posted.

I'm rooting for Carolina Crown and their show "The Grass is Always Greener." It may not be THE strongest show on the field this year (I haven't seen many other corps yet this season, so who that is, I can't tell right now), but I'm hoping they at least surpass The Cadets and place in the Top 3 or 4 this year.

I'm a fan of Crown's show too. I haven't actually seen a show this year ( or for that matter, a live show in the past two or three years), but I'm forever a Crown fangirl. erm, fanperson.
I'm also obligated to mildly be a SCV fangirl due to the surplus of kids from my high school marching with them (something like 4 people or so?)

I went to DCI in Atlanta last week...it was amazing. Crown's show didn't make any sense, and the green was disgusting looking, but they sounded amazing. I wasn't able to stay to see the Cavaliers or Blue Devils (stupid curfew), but out of the shows I did see, Phantom Regiment's "The Red Violin" was my favorite.

i was kind of disappointed with Phantom this year. they were good technically, but the show wasn't what i imagined it could be. my favorite was Blue Stars!!

My favorite show is Crown's. I love it so much. It's so obscure which is my style.
And for those who don't understand the show, here's what it says in the 2009 DCI yearbook. "The term in media res is Latin for 'when a story begins in the middle,' often with flashbacks to fill in the blanks. It's how Carolina Crown commences The Grass Is Always Greener, providing a glimpse into everyday life- as we think we know it- and an optimistic longing for some fantasized ideal. However, that idyllic fantasy is interrupted by transformative cataclysmic events that wildly transport the performers to 'The Other Side.' Once there, the corps embarks on a magical journey amidst quirky creatures, dangerous darkness and forbidden romance- all leading to a climactic epiphany before the eventual voyage back home. Costumes evoke some of the literature's most fantastic characters, while the music draws on works from the classical period through the modern era to paint a sonic picture as diverse and eccentric as the storyline."
I like to think of the quirky part as Whoville from Dr. Suess. ;D

yeah, i guess i wasn't a fan of crown because as a guardie the first thing i see is obviously the colors. the barf green wasn't working for me. plus i hold some resentment against Adam Sage and pretty much the entire guard staff leaving Phantom for Crown. i'll admit that the top corps all had really good music and drill, but Blue Stars was best guard in my book. they had a really strong quarter-finals performance. i hope they do well!!

Have to agree with Sam - it is INCREDIBLY satisfying to see the Troopers back in the top 12 again after so many years. I recall seeing them for the first time way back in the early 70's - a great and proud organization. they used to sell actual uniform pieces at their souvenir trailer back then (don't know about now), and I bought a calvary hat. still have it somewhere, I think...
As for the corps I like that I have seen so far via online video - Santa Clara. An exceptional, well constructed and performed show. they make it seem so effortless, and I love the ending. I'll see the rest of the shows sometime soon, but I doubt any will disappoint.

yeah, my hs band friends and i had a lot of fun watching scv's drill because we hired their drill writer for 2007 and 2008. plus, a lot of corps this year chose music from Joseph Curiale that my band played in 2007. The Academy used the same opener.
