Well, KKΨ already has a thread here, so I figured I'd start the TBΣ one! Are there any other sisters (or brothers!) of Tau Beta Sigma out there? I represent the Alpha Delta chapter, and was just initiated in March. We had elections tonight, which took forever. I also got to sing our National Hymn today with about half the chapter for a benefit concert. It was amazing.

I rushed TBS this past year but I just didn't have the time to pledge and keep up with everything. They're pretty cool but concert band makes me want to scratch my eyes out so pledging in the future is a no go. It's just as well. The chapter at Baylor is kind of small, I think 2/30-something and if I had pledged that would have made 2 Katie's in this year's class alone plus one who is already in it. Would have been kind of crazy.

Ah, I can see why you didn't pledge then. It gets insane, apparently, when you're a music major in TBΣ, since usually all our activities are in the School of Music. They must live there. Our chapter is huge: my rush class was 15 people, so the entire chapter is about 42 people now. We're all hectic and stressed! Sometimes I'm glad I'm not a music major...

I'm not in TBS or anything, but I think JMU's rush class for the spring was about 15 people and probably has about 45 or so people total. TBS and KKY are huge at JMU. I think SAI is only slightly smaller than those too, but don't quote me on that.
Music majors pretty much live in the music building anyways... haha poor things. I feel so bad for them.

I'm a potential member for the Zeta Delta chapter (they won't let us call it rush because the process takes most of first semester). We had our recruitment get-together tonight. It seems like an even mix of music and non-music majors. We're a small chapter too. I think we only have 6 potentials this year. KKY is bigger, but their not as close knit as TB∑.

went through 3rd degree on friday and went to my first meeting last night things are kind of stressful though because we had four members quit including our secretary and alumni liason. we're a small chapter to begin with, so that leaves us with 15 actives, including the five of us from my PM class. we had elections for secretary and alumni, so that left some of the chair positions open, and i got voted to Ritual Chair. it'll be cool to get the leadership experience, and i'm hoping it won't be too much work since degrees are over. plus, the former Ritual Chair is now the Secretary, and I'm hoping she'll help me out.

Congrats, KUguardgirl! Prepare to be busy. If you were in our district I'd probably get our sisterhood head to send you a postcard (or maybe we will anyhow). Funny, you're Zeta Delta, and we're Alpha Delta. Anyway, that's good that you're taking some initiative in a leadership position. I was made head of Merchandising this year, and boy is it a pain sometimes (I'm in charge of ordering spats, gloves, and shoes for the whole band. Predicting ankle sizes of 220 kids ain't easy). It's a great experience, though, and I'm learning many many things about how much sisters are willing to help one another out, as well as service to the band, organization, and general communication skills. One of my sisters told me that it's wise to stay in a leadership position once you have one, since you learn so much.
