sorry i keep adding things, but... until a few days ago we had 2 band directors a man and a woman, they were like the parents in our big band family and i love them both dearly. when one (the woman) passed away it was like losing our mother, during band we all cried, all throughout the day in fact, the band "siblings" were very sad, so i just want to say band directors are definately not just teachers, they're family.

We have rules against contact with instructors/directors and you can get in big trouble for it... A lot of people still do though...

Sorry for keep adding also...I just cant help myself. lol. But, I totally understand. If something were to ever happen to mine, I would not be able to take it. I would be a mess. ... I am writting a scholarship essay for a college. It is about my hero, my band director. Have you all seen the musical, Wicked? "I've heard it said that people come into our lives, for a reason bringining something we must learn. And we are lead to those who help us most to grow. If we help them, they will help us in return. Now I dont know if I believe thats true, but I know I'm who I am today, because I knew you." Thats all I need to describe him. Thats all I need. I dont know of a better way without not showing everything he has done........its all I need. If any of you have seen it, you will understand. Its a Wicked thing!!

I just gotta add, my BD from the beginning of last year was the best. On the third one after him (he did freshman band before, so we know him) and we still miss him. There's always something that reminds us of him. It's mainly myself and another trumpet player that miss him (because of the circumstances of him leave), but he was the best teacher ever.
All we know about him is that he is alive and well (he had a staph infection when he went on leave). The hard part is we're not allowed to contact him in any way. He changed his cell and house number, he moved (we think we found out the town), and he had to get rid of all of his facebooks and whatnot. No matter how hard we look, or how much we bug the school for information, there's nothing. It hurts. D=
Edit: Not like you guys probably care, but we totally found out his new occupation, narrowed down the cities he's in, and potentially have a lead on how to talk to him again.

Oh, I am sure I will. Wicked...the songs, the lyrics, it is what I base my life upon. I do believe with my heart, that my bd has came into my life for a reason, and that I have been changed for good. I really do. It is what I live by. It makes me a better person. Because I hope that I will be that kind of a role model to kids one day. That is why I am becoming a music ed major. So I can inspire and change kids life like my bd has done to mine. But I am really really sorry to hear about your band director. I am sure she was great. I hope she was like mine so you can feel the way I feel......

thank you, i'm getting better as time passes "Time heals all wounds" but i agree that with most band directors they come into your life for a reason, and it's almost always good.

My band director is more than just a teacher to me. He's a father and a crazy older brother all rolled into one. Take this video, for example... www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnWvPKIm7zYYes, that's my BD dressed as Captain Kirk...XD

My BD is soooo like this. He is sor caring and I feel like I can talk to him about anything. More than my own mother. Is that weird? He will always give you life adive when you need it and he is always there to talk to. He stays at school a long time every day and does so much for the band and for individual students. I think it's really cool that he is like a friend to all of us more than a teacher, but then he can be assertive when he needs to. If I feel bad or lonely I can go talk to him and he always makes me feel better (I think it helps that before he majored in music he was going to major in child psychology) And this one time I was having an instrumental emergency so I called him and we met at school to fix it. (this was on a friday night before I had a preformance) He's just all in all my most favorite person and I love to talk to him because he is so understanding but then I can joke with him too because he is really funny. He's the best!

It is not weird at all. Not one bit. We had two students die three days ago in a car accident. sophomores...and my band director...man, he has been great this week. this week has been on eof the hardest and he has been there for me. last week, one of my closest friends, fifth bass drum, was rushed to the hospital and in there a week. the doctors thought he had cancer. stomach cancer. band director was there for us all. my best friend, hasbeen deathly ill since october. the doctors still dont know what wrong with her. woodwind capitain and 3rd clarinet. my best friend. my band director has been there for me.
