I've been playing trumpet for 6 or so years now, and just this year it seems I cannot hit notes the first time, anymore.
Like, I try to hit middle C, and get a G. Just stuff like that. Or, I need a D and blow out a Bb. Constantly my BD is like "One more up! There you go." It's frustrating and getting to be embarrassing. I want private lessons, but just cannot afford them.
Any advice?

Any advice? If you're not doing this already, you need to hear the note in your head before you play it. You're growing and changing, and chances are your facial muscles are as well, and the horn is not going to FEEL the same after awhile, and sometimes even day to day. If you can hear the note in your head, then you can play it. Also, make sure that you are taking large, relaxed breaths, and let the air flow through the horn naturally - don't try to force it. The key to playing a brass instrument is relaxation. Our goal is to find the easiest and most efficient way to do anything.

I know this is like a really old thread, but it might help someone else. :/
I always try to imagine hitting notes like a basketball game.
Like in basketball, throwing thball right at the hoop isn't going to make it. Shooting to low.. well.. thats obvious.
But if you shoot high, like a rainbow shape, you have a gopod chance of making it.
So i try to imagine myself shooting higher than needed for a note. So to get certain notes, try to overchoot for the note. It works most of the time, although i try too hard sometimes, and end up with higher partials. XD
