I'm a senior this year. I have so many great memories from the past four years. One of my personal favorites, was leaving in the middle of our band bazaar this year, kid napping a freshman, two juniors, and a senior(my best friend) and me of course. It was just after the Presidential Election, so we went all around town and stole signs out of peoples yards (I don't think they cared since it WAS after the election). We then took at the signs (even an orange cone) from the day and went to our directors house and stuck them in his yard. A couple weeks later we had our banquet, and the seniors give out awards, so I gave them all (The Freshman and two Juniors) the Most Likely to seal Political Sign award. It was a great and memorable experience.

I do that a lot. This last season our show was Hansel and Gretel and I was Hansel and my friend, a senior, was Gretel. It was our band banquet and we were about ready to watch our show so I went over by her so we could laugh about all of it togther. We started watching it and instead of laughing, we ended up crying. She was one of the people that helped me through everything I have been through and she is the reason I am still hear. I was going to quit but she made me realize how much I love it. I would not be the person I am without her. I love you Kristina. I am going to miss her so much I will never forget that season. This is random, but did you guys go to Indianapolis back in November? If so, were you the last group to perform in Prelims? If so, I saw your band.

Yes, and yes. I am hopng you seeing our show was a good thing. If not, oh well. I dont care. lol. kidding! lol.Yep it was a long day. We leave after school and ride on a school bus for a few hours. Then we go to the hotel for a few hours, then perform at 1030 at night. I passed out at the hotel! lol! I was worn out. But I was ticked because I finally got to use my wooden clarinet and it was the best I have ever sounded. I go out there and my microphone does not work. Then if that is not bad enough, in the beginning of the third song, when I am skipping with my giant candy, my reed rubs up against my pants and breaks in half. Now me, I always carry a bunch of reeds in my pocket, just in case. Everyone thinks I am stupid put I proved them wrong. When I was sitting on the platform "crying" I secretly slipped my hand in my pocket, took the reed out of its case, slid my broked reed off and put the good reed on without anyone knowing. lol. But, my mic didnt work...but I got some props from my directors and I wanted to end the season on a high note for me! lol! But yes, we were the last to perform in prelims last season at BOA Grand Nationals...Lucas Oil Stadium.

^I remember I liked your show. It was really cool. And it was good to see a small-ish band performing last, where everybody could watch them. My band performed somewhere in the middle, and we're pretty small too, so yeah. I was getting tired of seeing gigantic bands. My band is def. NOT a BOA band, and we ended up getting like 32 out of 35, but oh well. It was still fun.

lol. Glad to know I met someone on here that has the same type of band as I do. lol. I am happy now. lol. Is it the kind of band that is very miixed...as in there is a select group of people who care and want to get somewhere, a majority who could care less and some who are forced? Are you one of that select few? Is you bd one of the best people you have ever met? What band are you from? What instrument do you play? I seemed lost on here because every where I look it seems like everyone on here had a band of about 200...some more. I know some are college but a lot are high school. It is amazing to see how big bands can be. I like it when you see a small band come out at nationals. Gives you a break from all the big, rich bands. You see, I like a the little town of Mount Orab, Ohio. We average around 50 each year. But I am one of those people who give there life to this. I am a person who gets aggrivated at how many people dont care but I have learned to accept and move on. I had a blast being a soloist. It was scary the first time but it has helped me grow so much. Gretel, the flute soloist, I never really talked to her. We kind of had to once the season started and now we are best friends. It was really hard because I love to march. I was not allowed to march, or be in time with anyone around me, or be at attention, or parade rest...nothing the rest of the band did. But it was fun. It is about time I found someone on here that is in the same boat as I am!

Ohh my gosh, i actually am starting to tear up. I might just cry. One of my greatest memories: Right after they annouced our placements at Area. We had gotten first. And another school, Vista Ridge had gotten 6th. They only take 6 to state, and our school and Vista are good friends of eachother so we were so happy. Everyone got out of the stadium and was in the big parking lot. My school, Cedar Park, and Vista were together, in ONE BIG MOSH PIT of like 400 kids infront of, i think it was their trailer, and there was a director on top of the trailer shooting pictures of all of us(which was on the front page on the paper like the very next day). Everyone was so happy, people were hugging eachother, and screaming, and pouncing and kissing(cheek) one another. It was amazing. Here's another one. This past year, we got first at the Westlake Compitition which is kind of a big deal to us. We have this tradition where if we get first in something, we "ride the pony". As everyone was evacuating the stadium, me and my whole entire band like sprinted to the middle of the field, and started "riding the pony" (basically clapping and dancing in a circle). I rid the pony like every single time. SO MUCH FUN. Then as we were doing our thing, the announcer came on the loud speaker and said, "Cedar Park, please get off the field. You are not supposed to be on the field. Please leave the stadium." We all started laughing. AFTER THAT, we all went back to our trailer in the parking lot. The Westlake compititon was actually on the day of the Homecoming Dance, so since we all missed that, and since our directors are BOSS, they had like these humongous speakers set up, and they hooked someones Ipod into it, and we kinda had a little "homecoming dance" of our own. One more, one more. I have to many to count, im sorry, lol. Okaay, just one of the best feelings Iv probably ever felt was at state this year. We made it to the finals, and our BD, spicer, said "im not gonna come and get you off the field right away. When everyone starts cheering, I want you to take it all in, and expereince it." So when we ended the show, ALL THREE LEVELS of the Alamo Dome were on their FEET cheering, screaming, crying, shouting, etc... their HEADS off. I dont think any other band got that kind of standing ovation. Best feeling in the world for me. I was just...blown away. ;D

Favorite band memory:
UVa vs. Maryland, Oct 1st. Show was the songs of Journey (which is pretty awesome in itself). We'd had three weeks to rehearse it, and it sounded incredible.
Previous to this, our football team had been on losing streak due to our starting quarterback getting kicked out due drug charges. But, by halftime, we were up by two touchdowns, and Maryland hadn't even scored.
So, the crowd was pretty psyched, and we were pretty psyched, and for the first time that I can remember, the crowd actually sang along (in particular, to Don't Stop Believin'). And let me tell you, 50,00+ people singing is no trivial thing.
We went on to win that game 31-0. Yeah, it was pretty awesome.

My favorite memory was when we had our old band director my freshman year, who we all called Bino, who was a pretty big guy to begin with. He was very strong though. Bino always wore colored shirts and would call himself the worlds largest blueberry (blue shirt), wagon (red shirt), or tree (brown shirt).
During one day in rehersal someone irritated him and they were not playing right. He said "I'm up here on the podium, can you not see me?! Move your stand or something! I'm the size of the world's largest pumpkin!" He had just happened to be wearing a orange shirt. lol

HEY HANSEL!!!!!
Hey so for all you band geeks I'm Gretel. I am a senior this year and I have had soooo many memories from marching band! One of my favorite memories is one where Ricky, a sousa player at the time, was sitting on a stool and started to fall off cause he was so tiny! Lucky for him the other sousa guy reached over and grabbed his instrument so he wouldn't fall off. I also liked being a soloist this year with THEE Hansel! Yeah, I remember the last practice it was so freakin cold that Hansel and I were turning ORANGE!! Performing at BOA Grand Nationals was amazing! I had never been a soloist before so performing in front of all those people was terrifying, but I was ok because Hansel enouraged me to go on as I did for her. Oh yeah, and the not marching part didn't go quite as well because I ended receiving the Superior Player and Marcher award (SPAM) even though I wasn't supposed to march. I can't help myself-4 years of perfecting my technique and all of a sudden I can't march?! Hansel and I had a FUN time not marching. Basically anytime pent with the marching band is worth remembering. So to you guys to of the Bronco Brigade... I LOVE YOU ALL AND WILL MISS YOU SOMETHING FIERCE!!! Thanks Hansel for helping make my senior year so memorable!

I got "married" my freshman year in band. There was this flute player who was a junior my freshman year. She always called me her "favorite freshman flute player". One day, we were walking back from a practice in the stadium and she decides we should get "married". One of the OTHER flute players made us say "I do" and declared us married! We call each other wife to this day! lol. She's cheating on me with her boyfriend of like 5 years though!

I'm only a freshman, but so far this one mine would be this one: [Ok, it's a bit funny then a favorite memory, but yeah.....]
I left my hot chocolate on the benches during 3rd quarter break, I went pee, and when I came back, & I find the 2 trombones freaking out at the spilled hot chocolate. "Who did this?" one of them asked. "I went to the bathroom !!" I said. "OoOOOOh. Yr gonna get it, watch. !" one of them said.
They totured me during the rest of the game. I was sitting in front of them, sorta between them. and there slides would end up one both sides of my faces... They just loved this. xD & during Indain War Chant, One of them decided to play really loud....The Jr. Drum Major knew my pain, they use to do that to her too. xD

Oh man.. too many memories.. Well, I have 2, I couldn't decide.
One was when this year, some kids decided to pull a prank on a sophomore and ended up tying her to a chair (legs and hands tied up), putting her section bandana across her mouth and sending her to the 3rd floor.. where no one goes.
Another was when, for the room decorating contest, one of the rooms needed lots and lots of yellow. They went to the cafeteria and started to steal bananas for the room and one guy managed to carry 13 bananas (Mind you he's wearing a T-shirt and shorts) in.. not so comfortable places. He managed to get past the cafeteria ladies, but ended up with only 6 as a policeman nearby saw the prank and told him to give some back. Wasn't in trouble, but it was very funny. The room ended up winning the best room award.

i have many favorite memories...i can't really pick just one here's one: it was freezing cold at one of our rehearsals. we all just stood around while the band directors were deciding whether to cancel practice or not eventually they decided to end it early, but we would have sectionals for about half an hour. we had to practice in the bathrooms, where it was warm. the clarinet section (which is mostly girls) ended up being in the men's restroom because the trumpet section (which is mostly guys) was in the women's restroom. so, we were practicing our show music in the restroom when some normal people who aren't in band came in to use the restroom and surprise! there were clarinets in there

Probably the greatest memory is during freshman year band camp. I had just finished getting fitted for my uniform jacket and went back into the band room, just in time to see my BD's toupee get blown off his head and land a few feet away.
Whole room went dead silent, so the BD just got up, picked up the hair piece, and went into his office. Still silent for a minute, and then I pretty much collapse to the floor laughing, and everyone else joins in. It was great.
