Okay everyone. I want to know what your favorite memory of all of the crazy, and amazing times we have been through. I will give you one.
One of my favorite experiences was the first time I marched at nationals. It was my rookie year and I was scared to death. It was in Indianapolis and we were in the air lock. We walk into the stadium and it looks like you are in some kind of factory. You warm up and then they take you down this other hallway. You go, set up your block to march onto the field and you see this big door infront of you. All of a sudden, the air lock opens and you see hundreds of people cheering for you. It is the best feeling in the world. For those of you who have been, you know what I mean. Once I got out there I knew this is what I wanted to do for a very long time. Unfortunately the dome is gone and the new stadium was built and they no longer have the air lock, but it still gives you an amazing feeling that can never be replaced.
Anyone else? Come on. I know you have some thing memorable.
Heres another one. I was the clarinet soloist in our 2008 show Hansel and Gretel. I was the one who got to play the roll of Hansel. Yea I know, I am playing the part of a boy when I am a girl. We were at nationals and this was my third year. This is still to this day intimidating. I am out in the middle of the field, shaking, cameras in my face and i look at Gretel and she says, "We got this." I smiled at her and went on to do the show. We had the time of our lives(even though my reed broke in half in the middle of the show and I secretly switched it with another one I had in my pocket without anyone knowing!!!) But my microphone did not work. At nationals!! I could not believe it. Gretel is graduating and I will miss her truely. I love you!!
Give me some of your good times.

*tears up*
I'm a senior and these are some of my memories from my 4 years of marching band.
My junior year, we went to a competition at southeast raleigh high school. One of our freshman trumpets when we got there said "hey guys I forgot my trumpet at eastern" So we get SERHS to lend him a school trumpet since eastern is two hours away. Then he goes and BREAKS their trumpet.
more to come.

Wow, one favorite memory??? I have like a million! Well, my first one is from last year (my sophomore year). We were walking onto the field to perform, and just as we enter the stadium, lightening strikes just behind us (onto one of the light poles). So we get into our places and I remember our drum major with his hands up frozen waiting to see if we should perform or go inside. All this time, there was a lady screaming GET THEM OFF THE FIELD!!!! GET THEM OFF THE FIELD!!!! over and over again. They decide to put us into the football locker rooms and, out of nowhere, it starts hailing like none other. So they wait till the hail passes, then start pushing the hail off the field (it was astro-turf) with tables, chairs, and music stands. Finals was canelled, it was great. My other amazing memory was from state this year. As soon as I walked onto the field, I inhaled and it smelled like earth. I was not imagining an NFL football stadium to smell so amazing. And I felt passionate about that entire show, it was like for once, we were more than just a band. We were people working together creating music. It was honestly the first time when I have ever not cared what judges think because I was entirely happy with how I and my bandmates had done. It was truly life-changing.

I never said it was my favorite memory. My favorite memory would be 7/1/07

I was referring to the prompt. Just curious, but what happened 7/1/07?

Hmmmm....probably the moment I found out I got into UVa (after being waitlisted three consecutive times previously).
I was working at a RadioShack at the time (bit of advice: don't work at RadioShack), and I remember my mom drove up, walked into the store waving the envelope. Much rejoicing was to be had.
Though my boss kept on thinking I'd gotten into Virginia Tech, instead. Yeah. Kind-hearted guy, but not the brightest bulb.

This thread hasn't been posted in, in a while. Oh well.
My favorite memory, was going to Disneyland with the band, winning the whole Disney schpeel, and on the bus home singing backstreet boys non stop

I am from a small, poor band, so we have to delight in the small things. Probably the best memory we've had was at the Zia Marching Fiesta this year, when we took home our first (ever) trophy. I got home and wrote a long, rambling, note on Facebook about how our band is now a legitimate marching band, and not just a concert ensemble that stands up once in a while.

its really hard to pick out any one amazing part, since what i honestly enjoy most about band was just being to hang out with my friends. but if i have to choose one moment, it would have to be freshman year in high school. during our sectional in practice, the low brass always got together in one of the dressing rooms in our school and generally just sat around and told stories. anyway, one of the trombones got bored and managed to get himself locked in a closet. after about 20 minutes of us trying to get him out we finally decided to go get one of the assistant BD's to come unlock it, and then when it came time for the band to come back together as a whole our BD made a coming out of the closet joke.
if i can think of more amazingly fun times i will post them.

lol!!! Thats a good one! My band director is like that also. He makes up stupid jokes about everything we do. But it is pretty great!!
-oscarisamazing...I am in the same boat you are in...kind of. Our school is big, our band is small. But I have gotten over the small part because I know it could be worse. But, we have gotten trophies...mostly participation. It kind of stinks because about 20 years ago our band was really good. I mean really good. Then there was a bd change. He lasted a while but his spot was filled about 4 years ago. Our band has gotten better since then. We are slowly making aour way to the top.

For marching band my 2006 (which was also my senior season) season. Specifically the final competition, and the finals of that competition. It was the first time anybody in the band got to march in the finals since we hadn't made it out of the Semifinals the year before, in fact it was almost as if we weren't going to go in 2006, but we did, and gosh am I glad we did go.
The performance was so amazing that a lot of us (including the band directors I think. XD) were crying at the end of it.
To be honest, I still tear up just from watching it. I will never forget that.

I do that a lot. This last season our show was Hansel and Gretel and I was Hansel and my friend, a senior, was Gretel. It was our band banquet and we were about ready to watch our show so I went over by her so we could laugh about all of it togther. We started watching it and instead of laughing, we ended up crying. She was one of the people that helped me through everything I have been through and she is the reason I am still hear. I was going to quit but she made me realize how much I love it. I would not be the person I am without her. I love you Kristina. I am going to miss her so much.
I will never forget that season.

My favorite memory would have to be from last year. I was a senior and my high school band was going on our big trip that the band goes on every three years. This time we were going to Disneyworld to perform in Festival Disney. Well, the concert band played the best they had ever performed the songs. And our Jazz band was awesome also. But the best part was at the awards ceremony when our school was called out as recieveing a superior rating and when it was announced that our Jazz band had won best in class and best jazz band at the festival. And then our bassoon soloist for our main song recieved an award for outstanding soloist! Our entire band just went crazy! We were all screaming and hugging eachother and high-fiving the Jazz band members. The awards Ceremony was probably the highlight of the trip for me.
