Time to whip out the streamers, funny glasses, and champagne! It's 2009!
2008 has been a fantastic year for most of us, it seems... what have you done in 2008 that you want to share and be proud of? Share and be proud! Any good New Year's resolutions?
The good stuff: - Graduated high school with honors/had a 4.3 GPA my senior year - Got accepted to 6 out of 7 colleges I applied to - Made it into The Most Exciting Band in the Land! - Took four AP tests and got college credit from two of them - Became a published illustrator and almost finished writing a novel - Started to take art commissions and made some money from it - Made the Dean's List my freshman quarter - Stayed happy, healthy, and on good terms with the family!
Resolutions: - Lose some more weight - getting closer, despite some of the Freshman 5-6 pounds I gained, haha. - GET MY STINKIN' DRIVER'S LICENSE! Gosh! - Keep up the good trend in grades in college. - Stop procrastinating, like I'm doing now.
Come on, let's hear what you've accomplished in 2008, and what you want to accomplish in 2009! Have a wonderful New Year! ;D

Resolutions: -Do well on my Senior Thesis -Finally get a summer internship, somewhere -Let go of my insecurities -Advance in my riding skills, now that I have a horse to do it on, and an instructor to work with -Enjoy my last marching season -Actually start showing up to the free yoga classes, now that I have the time (it's the only thing I've discovered that can get the tension out of my upper back)

The Yay's: - Graduated HS and got into 4 out of 5 colleges - Grew a lot as a person over the past few months - Went to school halfway across the country and stood on my own with people who haven't known me more than a handful of months - Ended an unhealthy relationship rather painlessly and found a man who encourages my quirks- well, most of them anyway - Discovered I am a lot more independent then previously thought. - Made a lot of improvement as a rider and definitely have more confidence in the saddle (on the flat at least) - Became more extrovert (to an extent) - Discovered that marching band can be relaxing (yay BUGWB) - Developed a sense of school spirit
Resolutions: - Find a new job I love or at least one that doesn't make me want to never ever have children - Bring my GPA up by at least .07 - Get back to somewhat shape (kind of hard when I'm not fighting with adolescent ponies every day like I was this summer) - Loosen up a bit more - Plug into a small group on campus - Keep my room in PA as clean as I keep my dorm in TX - Wear a skirt more often/ dress a bit nicer more often
I think procrastination is a hopeless cause with me

Here we go: 1. Grew A LOT as a musician. I entered band camp last year as a freshman, unable to read bass clef, stay on the right partial, or play above about a high D. Now, I can do all those things, and my tone is way better. 2. Gained a lot of confidence. People don't scare me any more, and I'm not afraid to stand up for myself. I can look someone in the eye and say, "Damn right, I'm smarter than you" and not quiver. 3. Started down the road of a better GPA. This sounds really lame, but I am off to a better start than I was expecting to be.
Resolutions: 1. Work on the ego problem. 2. Break 30' in the triple jump 3. Get even further on my horn 4. Look into colleges seriously 5. Do Screnzy and/or NaNoWriMo

The Good- Met some awesome people, some of whom are now very close, wonderful friends - Got out more on my own, traveling by myself and going away by myself - Made a lot of sense out of what I'm doing in college; I think I know where I'm going and how I'm getting there - Learned a whole lot about some of my personal habits (particularly how I handle money) and know how to deal with them better - Fixed some of those personal problems on my own without having to look to my parents for help Bad- Got an F in a class :X - I am so very bad with money - Could not find a permanent job (though I still had my full-time summer job) - Had a rough fall semester all around What I want to do in '09- Travel! I'm going to Boston again this coming weekend, in fact. I have plans to go back in March for my friend Pam's birthday and we keep talking about going to see PNC Park. Maybe we'll actually go! - Find a permanent job. I'm hopeful I'll find one that will allow me to keep my summer job (that one is full-time and the pay is nearly twice what I'd make anywhere else), but unemployment in Rhode Island is very high, so...we'll see. - Lose a few pounds. I don't have any real goal. I just want to feel better. When I feel better, I'll be satisfied. - Do better academically. My bad fall semester (an F, a D+, a C+, a B-) only dropped my GPA by .3, but I'd like to get my GPA over 3.0 and keep it there. I have four semesters left, so I think it's reasonable. - Be better with money. Not buy frivolous things. Buy only the things I really want; put the rest away. My Saab's next inspection is in October 2010. Hopefully it'll pass and last me long enough to get a newer car before 2012, and I want to get it on my own.
