I don't know why I'm suddenly so curious. I sort of sauntered back to TFBC since I have a massive break from college (6 weeks! I've been home since November 20th and I'm going stir crazy!). Lately, with all of my free time, I've been doing a ton of artwork, as well as trying to add more to my novel. I'm just curious (especially with all the hype about Twilight - though don't even get me started on sparkly vampires) if any other TFBCers have a passion for writing. Since March 2008, I've been toiling away at a full-length novel called Vengeance, which follows the story of a high school junior who happens to be a little... different. Besides not quite fitting the status quo, holding a stronger-than-average hatred for those of the "popular" hierarchy, she also happens to be a werewolf. It's not as cookie-cutter as it might seem with that description, or at least I hope not. The thing started as a way for me, in the midst of my senior year, to vent my frustration with those stereotypical people in high school we love to hate: the rude jocks, Hollister-clad hipsters, attention wh*res, and etc., but eventually snowballed into something much bigger. If you want to read what I have so far (14 chapters, almost 38,000 words), you're welcome to start here if you missed the link above. But in the meantime, I want to know: are they any other band geeks-turned-aspiring-novelists on the boards? What are you working on? WHERE CAN I READ IT? I still have two weeks left on break!

I write occasionally when I am suddenly bombarded with inspiration. Unfortunately, I lose inspiration really quickly and my plot dies.
I've only finished one of my stories... it was only 14,000 words though. I'm currently working on a revision of it (which so far I think is much much much better than the original and hope it continues to improve). I'm just looking for a beta-reader atm to help me out with some things though...
Except everything I've written thus far is violent. I just feel like a really bad person when my characters are dropping like flies.

Except everything I've written thus far is violent. I just feel like a really bad person when my characters are dropping like flies. Aww, don't feel bad! Half the people in my story would be dead if the main character didn't occasionally have a crisis of conscience! If you're looking for a beta-reader, I'd be willing to take a glance at some of your stuff. I've always had a knack for revising, since I'm a vocabulary/grammar nerd. I just often miss small mistakes in my own work - it depends on how late at night it is, haha.

My stories are mostly pretty light-hearted; I don't do somber stuff very well. I just can't take myself seriously enough to do it. You can find me on ff.n under "oscarisamazing"--I'm also on Celtx under that name--but if you can't stand to see that in your browser bar, here are my present projects in another format: www.box.net/shared/ikrx5egornwww.box.net/shared/626lldi8jkI realize the subject matter is lame, but it's all I can stick with for an extended period. If you have a Celtx account, I can let you read a screenplay Ive posted there; it's much better.

I'm co-authoring a screenplay with one of my best friends. It's kind of in the spirit of monty python, except with a female protagonist. What's a little frightening is that it is already over 120 pages and we haven't covered nearly what we want to, and editing has been a pain. It's about a slightly mad reporter who upon the recent commercialization of time travel is sent back to Arthurian Times to inform the modern public about what was really happening back than as she unwittingly is on the hunt for the Holy graile. Unfortunately for her, everyone back then is just as snippy, if not more so, than her. We started it our sophomore year when our amazing English teacher gave us the assignment to put the Fisher King into a screenplay. What was supposed to be a 30 mn assignment took us a full week and then we kept going. No Arthurian mythos is free from our terror! Lancelot has become a pansy and Percivale is a simpleton and poor Arthur... Eventually we plan to put part of it as public on Zhura however we haven't gotten there yet *edit* I'm also on ff.net as "Hunt Seat Panhead" ... pretty much all of my stuff that I have up was written in early High School/late Middle School so it's not the best representation of my style but oh well

I may have to sign up for ff.net just to read all of these, seriously. I can't "do" fanfiction because I know I'd screw up the characters, but I find making my own so much more fun (and make characters I do - I get insanely detailed with them). Oscar, I just read the first chapter of the first link you sent, the one about Cam. That's an awesome start! I really like the idea of metalhead-turned-band geek, haha. You should check out Courtney Brandt's series, "The Line," and its sequel, "A Fine Line.". I still think her books are only available on Amazon.com, though. Your characters sound like they'd fit right in. Greenepony... lol. I can't believe you turned an English assignment into that! That sounds like a really nifty screenplay. I love Monty Python!

^^Thank you, SaxGirl; the metalhead thing doesn't come into play much until later, in an arc I haven't written yet.
BTW, I'm always interested to see who people's favorite characters are.

haha, SaxGirl, you read most of my stuff on DeviantART. I have a FanFiction.net account (Rothek the Thief), but I use it to read and comment on works.
I'm mostly a poet, but I've written a couple short stories. Maybe... I'll post them eventually. I'm a lazy bum.

haha, SaxGirl, you read most of my stuff on DeviantART. As do you. I love your poetry! Haha, tonight I was at Burlington Coat Factory shopping for Christmas gifts, but also looking for a blouse to wear under a vest I bought, and as I was strolling through the women's section, all of a sudden I went, "Hmm, I wonder which character from Vengeance would look the best in this..." XD I'M SUCH A LOSER. heepwah2you04, what's your plotline? Anything exciting? I love delving into interesting stories. And thanks, if you do ever read mine, I'd love to know what you think!

edit-oh im on ff.net too,but I don't think I have any stories up.

I'm (attempting to) work on a band story that involves bloody murder and deception. And when I'm in bad mood, I vent through creepy-as-crap angst one-shots.
But otherwise, I write happy little one-shots about the characters in the aforementioned band story. I'm featherbrained-flute on deviantArt.

^ Ah, that sounds neat! I tried writing a band story during my freshman year, stupidly using real names and real people (which was actually pretty funny), where the drummers brought marijuana on the bus and the whole band has to suffer. I think I got to the first football game, and that was it. Don't worry, I vent through some pretty weird techniques, too, i.e. really angry artwork. It's all over my deviantART gallery, haha. heepwah2you04, deviantART is my life. Seriously. If you're a writer, you can find pretty good pockets of interested readers to give you feedback, even if you just post on the forums. For me, personally, deviantART has been almost as helpful as my art classes, I swear. I also use it as a medium for making money, since I take commissions on artwork.
