As much as Iv wanted to, I personally have never taken out a field judge, but iv heard stories from my other band friends. I think it was my sophmore year, and i think it was this one part in the opener, we all march and halt, and then there is the drum solo break, and then after that we all SHOOT backwords, and im pretty sure i heard a story of a field judge right behind a couple of us during that drum solo, and then when we hauled a** backwards, he nearly got mowed over. Then, last year, we had this one horn snap. We were going pretty fast, and our horns were down. We'd make it to our set, halt, SNAP our instruments out to the right, and then bring it back infront of us. Im pretty sure a field judge was right next to someone during that horn snap and almost got a face full of brass. XD priiiiiceless. ;D

At one of our shows, a trumpet completely plowed through a field judge. The judge was right in the center of the path he needed to take unless risk being late, and the judge never moved.
On the audio recording of that judge's all you can hear is "Ahh, woah, woah! Darn!", fumbling with a mic and a trumpet blaring.

During practice I steamrolled over our woodwind guy. He had just told me that if he was in my way I had every right to run him over. So I did.

I managed to take out my director during one of our last sets. I just slammed full shoulder into him. I forgot to mention this one earlier, but during band camp, our DM would stand in-between the lines and I always put out my elbows really far. And at one point, this girl got stuck in the middle of the band while we were going out to a game and she was like the whole time.

There's this one set in the show after the woodwind feature where I basically do a jazz run backward but it ends up really close to the drumline. I've run over each of our drum techs a few time because I cant see them behind me

I purposely charged at a judge (getting to my spot 2 counts before everyone else) and then the other baritone player stepped on his foot. No wonder we got last.

Not judge bowling but close. A couple of facts before I start this story of shock and awe: 1. I am one of those pesky Band Parents that “helps out” (During Marching season I help place and move one of the DM stands) 2. This last week was homing coming for the High School where my clarinet playing, section leader daughter, goes. 3. Because the presentation of the Homecoming Court is halftime show, the Band did its normal halftime show as a pre-game show. 4. Mid-South Band Competition was to have been last Saturday (it was rained out :-(. The BD had changed the start of the show from an “already into a set” to a “concert formation” block. Now the story: I normally place one of the DM stands on the 40 where my compatriot in arms, places the second one on the opposite 40. This year, we have been doing the stands by ourselves for the most part. It would be better if there were two people but the Band managers, all two of them, are busy setting up pit equipment. So we generally unfold the stands so the steps (and the wheels) are facing the ground then we flip them up so the other legs will be right on the edge of the “out-of bounds” line. Well this night, when I flipped the stand, I came face-to face with a trumpet player whose eyes where as big as saucers and I am sure that she wet herself. Of course I was surprised because there has not been a trumpet player, or anyone else for that matter, there before. There was about 1 inch between where the end of the stand was and where she was standing. I looked at her, smiled a little and said, “I’m good, aint I” After the pre-game I asked the assistant BD what is up with the new starting formation and he told me that it was changed for competition.
So I guess you can say I am rough on trumpets. In High School I marched Bass Drum and I took out a trumpet by turning into him (he was in the wrong spot at the wrong time) and now I almost took out a trumpet for a homecoming by turning something.

As much as I could go without having nice things to say about that other Ohio band north of us, I think their band showed us exactly what good judge/cameraman killing should be about: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EevMBTQpV4U
