On tenor...hmmm, well, me and the bass clarinetist do or weird little sign language to each other...lol. On bari, I usually empty my spit valve onto the Tubas lap...hehe

^I empty it onto the guitar's! (Sorry. I know I've posted it before, but I felt compelled to make sure charli07 knew, too.) I also like to reach behind my head and see if I can grab the trombone slide behind me, but I usually miss and just end up knocking into the drumset stand.

Interpretive dancing to the music. It's contagious to the other saxes next to you who are also holding C#. Also, if you have an itchy nose or something.....scratch away.

Good thread! I usually punch the person next to me.
By the way, C# is the hardest note to play in tune, period.

^... B key... It's fun to annoy people, rearrange music, calibrate the tuner or just generally be weird when playing open G on clarinet. We actually have a chorale in which the part that I play can be done with only 1 hand the entire way. It's fun to annoy the person in the seat next to me with the other hand.

its fun to distract others who are trying to count through it, or what ever. also if you make large hand movements or dance its funny to see the whole band turn to you while you are dancing and then the bd try to catch you off guard and change tempo or something, and no one cares. haha. its also fun to write letters with your stand buddy. mine couldnt read my handwriting soo she would look at me like "what!?!?"
also i am in concert band soo people are just doing it because they have to for the most part and arent used to the weird band people.

Since baritone only requires one hand and possibly a knee while playing, we tend to punch each other

I feel bad for trombones, who have to have both hands on at all times. Sousa's always have a free hand though (our sl used to hold his music in it lol)

Now that I think about it, yeah, they do. And, most of our trombone players don't have lyres, so they have to have their music in their face during marching season.

move the music stand so your standpartner cant see the music.

- Clap your hands over your head - Adjust and readjust neckstrap - Mess with the person next to you's music - Write on the person next to you's music
And my favorite....
Tune your sax. Pull the mouthpiece waaaaaay out, then shove it in as far as it will go. Might tick off your bd a bit...

I like to hit my section leader and scowl at her. I sit on her left and she is always dripping spit from her high d, e, and f keys onto my leg.
