I haven't really done anything too bad to my Sax...but I just took it in to fix leaks. Seriously I never knew my sax was leaking that badly, it's crazy. I just got it in May, so the pads probably changed due to moisture etc... The repair guy (who's a professional saxophone player) couldn't even get low C# out. Ahh the low notes come out like butter now My friend played baritone and one of the valves was stuck. Her dad didn't want to take it to the repair shop and thought I can fix it no problem! (typical dad) monkey wrench + baritone = BAD MESS. Yeah it ended up costing a lot more then they expected...

My dad tried to fix the a key on my clarinet once when it got misaligned... He actually did ok but he's like a technical genius. I wound up having to adjust the height about 6 months later though when it was playing ridiculously out of tune and we couldn't figure out the problem.

No but my friend has killed her clarinets to many times. She's broke the cork, chipped off large pieces of mouthpiece on 2 SEPARATE MOUTHPIECES, and more that i don't really know about. Poor clarinet That's so sad!!!!

I haven't done anything except the occasional key bending from playing too hard or needing the screws tightened but a fellow band geek once dropped her clarinet and it broke in half at the body. It couldn't be fixed at all, it was that bad. She had to play some sixth grader's clarinet the rest of the year.
A similar thing happened to someone else's clarinet. We all left the band room and when we came back her clarinet was broken in half and couldn't be fixed. She freaked out and we never found out who did it.

I put my flute on the stairs so my baby sister can't get it and my brother slipped on it. He bent the key on the foot joint that opens when playing C# and Eb(I'm not sure what it's called). I didn't even ask my brother if he was okay(he was). Luckily my BD fixed in time for the winter concert. I haven't had my tenor sax long enough for something to happen to it.

My BD claims I dropped my Alto my freshman year, but I swear it wasn't my fault. I had it on my neck strap and let go for two seconds and it fell off the neck strap. Honestly!! It was as flat as a pancake and un-playble, but my BD made me play it for the day anyway. My mom was pissed because she'd just gotten it for my birthday three weeks prior. We took it to the local music shop, but they said it wasn't fixable without sending it to Selmer (the company) to be re-molded and it honestly was too old to be worth sending out. My poor Sax! I never even got a chance to play it.

I magically got a nickel-sized dent in my flute headjoint and a dent in part of my lip plate.
At least it was my marching flute, but it was the mid/beginning of marching season. Blah. I used my sister's flute a little bit, but I really didn't worry too much about the dent. I just didn't know how it got there. It's fixed now though.
I was really sad when I dented my concert flute. It hit part of my bed and got a sharp dent in it. :[ But then it got fixed.
The picc I rented this summer had its retainer come off (the part that you slide the head joint into). It had to be saughtered back on. @_@ We didn't have to pay it, but still, I have NO idea how it happened.

Well, at our old school we didn't have instrument lockers or anywhere to store our stuff where other people couldn't get to it. My $500 trumpet that I bought before I switched to tuba somehow got it's pipe bent to where the 1st valve will not move. I hadn't had it out of it's case in over 2 months.
How is that for school pride?
