1. We always pray before halftime during games and before competitions. 2. Last year, before halftime at games, the clarinet section would hit each others hats and say "don't suck" 3. Every year at band camp, the trumpet section always does roll call where they make fun of sections and our bd and stuff.

Well, during the course of the game, the drumline always plays a piece called "Clock". And at the end, everyone in the crowd screams to the top of their lungs (in time)
NORTHSIDE HIGH. TIME TO REPRESENT! NORTHSIDE HIGH! WHAT TIME IS IT?!

The clarinet section has a chant they do before competitions, where they put their hands in and chant "augie!" I'm not sure how to spell it though. It's "babies" in a language that I can't recall. Our band has a baby count thing, long story. Unfortunatly, I don't get to chant augie this year I hope the mellophone section has some cool traditions!

We (the guard) put starburst wrappers in our bras and then we kiss the candy and eat it

-We always have a band gathering, and scream "Lets go loots!" for some odd reason that in my five years of being in the band, I still have yet to realize. -Our drumline plays "Freak!" whenever our football team intercepts the ball or scores a touchdown. Basically they do a little thing and then everyone yells "Freak!"
Eh, that's all I can think about right now.

Before parades, we always do this chant where we go through and call out things like "Chest...OUT! Shoulders...BACK!" Someone always throws in "Don't...SUCK!"

The tubas say "Ooo rah," like the Marines, before a show.
The band massages each others backs.
At the end of a home game and we're back in the courtyard in arcs, our BD lets us leave by class. Seniors, juniors, etc.
Tubas do the "Nacho" during the Cadence where we dip. It's hard to explain.

When we go on trips we: 1) Touch a screw & hold our feet up when we go over railroad tracks. 2) Hold our breaths over bridges and past cemeterys. 3) Hold our hands in the air when goin under bridges.

BAND: PRIDE!! We do something like this... but its this: DM: positions of attention DM: feet BAND: together! DM: stomachs BAND: in DM: chest BAND: out DM: shoulders BAND: back DM: head BAND: up DM: eyes BAND: with pride DM: eyes BAND: with pride DM: eyes BAND: with pride We yell that at the top of our lungs. And there is this clarinet "to the ready dance" half the time someone does it they end up completly bashing their clarinet into a seat or another person.

Lets see if I can remember some of them. --We pray before every game and competition, but after our chaplin says "amen" we all yell and scream "amen" as loud as we can.
--You can't "split the pole". Which means if youre walking with another band kid, or a group, everyone has to go on the same side of the pole, tree, bus, or whatever is in your way. It's bad luck if you split the pole. If you do go the wrong way, one of you has to go back around.
--Every year, on the last rehersal before contest, we gather around the director poduim outside and have a pep talk.
--When we get dismissed, we have to yell "BIG RED PRIDE" before we walk off.
--The woodwinds have a couple of dances and stuff we do on songs that only the brass plays. Like on ESPN, we sing in part of it. On So Hard, we do this dance where you pat you legs 2wice, clap twice, do the maverick sign and "twist" it twice (hard to explain), then you do the maverick sign at your sholders, then you do it towards the field and repeat.
--A senior usually buys candy and stuff for the section at holidays.
--The tuba's yell random things before games like "WHAT TIME IS IT?" "BAND TIME!"
That's really all i can think of.

we gather in a group and two guy senior brass players stand in the middle and start this chant:
"WHO ARE WE?!" us- THE BAND!
"WHOSE DAY IS IT?" OURS!
WHEN ARE WE GONNA ROLL THOSE PUPPIES? ALWAYS!
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GIVE UP? NEVER!
WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO TONIGHT? WIN THIS MOTHER!
WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO TONIGHT?! WIN THIS MOTHER!
and everybody jumps around and it's like one of those big happiness filled yelling jumping enthusiastic circles. and by god, it works. Ooh just thinking about it gives me chills ;D

We circle up and shout:
WHO'S HOUSE! OUR HOUSE! over and over again.
We're also commonly called "The Green Machine" and that's a big honor.
