613? My God, that's bigger than, uh, every 2A band in Colorado, combined (just about)

If I remember right, this is the same band that got in a small wreck last year... cuz my band director mentioned how many busses we use vs them. Biggest band in Texas. I guess it's true.. Everything's Bigger in Texas

Yeah, 613 is impressive... I wouldn't think it would be very manageable on the field, but I guess if you've got a good drill writer it could be possible. Personally, my band just topped 100 for the first time in like 16 years.

Everything's Bigger in Texas you're right. it was allen high school. everything has its price. the bigger they are the harder they are to move. now imagine when they enter the field for contest at UIL. 5 minute entrance. wow. Let's jazz run!

613 people is stupid. There is a point where adding people to your band doesnt do anything except take away from the show. Sure, its impressive to field that many, but what do they do .. march back and forth the whole time? Sorry to be so cynical ... but, it's true.
THOUGH, I must say I am VERY impressed that they were able to HAVE 613 people who wanted to march! Although IUPs band is pretty popular, we only get around 250 people who audition for the 185 ensemble, and most of the excess are drumliners.

^To my mind, 150-200 is a pretty good limit. See DM::Band ratio.
Anyways, if it were me at Allen High School, I would go with at least two bands, maybe even three--a "varsity", "JV" and "Freshman" band. Let the JV band do JV football games and the freshmen do Freshman games. I've always believed that JV teams deserve love, and if you have enough people, why not?
From that video, they stand in place a lot, but they actually sound pretty good.
