Oh ya I saw that on the news one night. He's already better than half of our trumpets. That pocket trumpet has to be cool to play. We need him in our band. *plots a plan*

^ ditto. when I told my mom, she was like, "he probably goes to Julliard" and I was like, "no...". man, it makes you wonder if that could've been you, had you started your instrument earlier... *goes off into a line of deep thought*

*ahem* not meaning to boast or anything but hes at the same level in playing as me and ive been playing 4 about only a yr
im mean WOW the fact that hes four blows u away but think about it if u started teaching ur 3 yr old kid who has a passion 4 say sax and then start teaching a 15yr old with the sam amount ov passion there gonna end up being at roughly the same level
what i find amazing is that a 4 yr old is motivated enough to do that kind ov thing and to practise and that he has the chops at that age to play like that. i think he rox i want my kid to be like that

You have to wonder if he's going to burn out. Mozart was a child prodigy too, and his life was tragically short. Such young talent must be carefully nurtured, and not exploited. It seems like he's got decent parents, though. It will be interesting to see where his "career" goes from here.

The fact that a three and four year old can pick up the concepts of *music* and play like he does is amazing. And you are right - he is at probably the level of a 15 year old trumpet player, but his brain is nowhere near as developed as a teenager's brain (or at least should be), which makes it more amazing. He is playing (for the most part) in tune, understands simple theory, and plays jazz rhythms. Those are all concepts that aren't picked up easily by the average musician, especially younger children.
